Amid complaints, Agra varsity VC warns against copying in exams
AGRA: In the wake of complaints of mismanagement and copying at various centres, the vice chancellor of Dr BR Ambedkar University once again stressed on copy-free examination. On Wednesday, more than one lakh students appeared for exams at more than 300 centres of Agra varsity.
The varsity examinations began on July 24 and are scheduled to end by August 14 to ensure a regular semester for this academic year. On Wednesday, 14 flying squads were in the field, informed prof Pradeep Shridar, the public relations officer of Dr BR Ambedkar University.
“The flying squad led by prof Yuvraj Singh found a solved question paper of botany for B Sc Party II at a centre in Etah district. When asked, the examination in-charge was not able to provide proper justification,” said Prof Shridhar.
“A packet containing currency notes was thrown in a vehicle in which the flying squad reached this centre. The packet along with a report was submitted to the examination controller who will initiate action against the college,” he said.
“There were no proper arrangements for students appearing in exams at a centre in Baldev (Mathura). Students were writing in the dark with no proper spacing. The SSP and DM of Mathura were informed about the situation,” stated prof Shridhar. Officiating vice chancellor of Dr BR Ambedkar University prof Alok Kumar Rai assured that it would be probed as to how such institutions became examination centres.
He reaffirmed that the university administration would not be lenient with degree colleges from where complaints of copying were received, and teams of university teachers would be deployed for conduct of exams under their supervision.
