CRIMINAL INJURED IN ENCOUNTER, ARRESTED

A criminal Mukesh Jatav, carrying a reward of Rs. 25,000, was arrested after being injured in police encounter on Monday night. A motorcycle, a countrymad­e pistol and cartridges were recovered from him.

To note, seven cases are registered against Jatav in different police stations of Agra.

“Police got a tip-off about Mukesh Jatav’s presence on Mughal Road on Monday night. He was going on a motorcycle from Balkeshwar to Khwaspura,” informed the press statement released by the media cell of Agra police. “Acting on the informatio­n, the SOG team led by sub inspector Kuldeep Dixit and cops from New Agra police station led by inspector Bhupendra Baliyan began checking after placing a barrier at Poiya Ghat here,” said the press statement.

“Mukesh Jatav reached the spot but turned and attempted to flee and slipped in the process. He opened fire at the police while lying down and cops retaliated in self-defence. The accused, who was injured in the leg, was taken into custody and sent for treatment,” said the statement. A case was registered against Jatav under Section 3/25 Arms Act and Section 307 of Indian Penal Code.

Two accused arrested

Two of the accused involved in vehicle theft were arrested by Mathura police from Highway police station after an encounter. Police recovered country-made pistols, cartridges and two stolen motor cycles. The encounter took place at 1.55 am on Tuesday. The accused used to steal away tractors and motor cycles.
