LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said the Centre has assured that the state will get more electricity as well as additional rakes to transport coal.

“I had a positive conversation with the home minister, power minister and the railway minister regarding power supply during my visit to Delhi (on Saturday). The ministers assured full cooperation,” he said while chairing a Covid- 19 review meeting here.

“The railways is going to give us additional rakes to transport coal (for thermal power stations in Uttar Pradesh), additional electricity will also be received from the Centre,” he said.

On the power situation, the chief minister said it was normal in the state at present and asserted that uninterrupted electricity supply should be providing correct bills on time to consumers,” he said.

For proper power supply, consumers must pay power bills on time; it’s their responsibility, he said.

“Energy department / electricity corporations will have to make concerted efforts for time bound collection of bills. Constantly contact, communicate with defaulters.

The collection system needs improvement,” the chief minister said.

Yogi also said that the state has maintained control over the Covid-19 pandemic. The state has 1,587 active cases with 269 fresh cases.

“The Covid cases are on the rise in NCR (national capital region) districts — Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad,” he added.

The chief minister said 99% people were recovering at home and their condition was being monitored.

He said the work of collecting samples from those who have tested positive and genome sequencing should continue.

Speaking on the free ration scheme for 15 crore people, the chief minister said availability of materials and the distribution system should be reviewed at regular intervals.

Delayed (bills) and overbilling not only trouble consumers, but also dishearten them. As a result, they don’t feel encouraged to pay their bills on time.
