COPS: 6 KILLED IN CLASH NEAR ASSAM, MEGHALAYABORDER
SHILLONG: Six persons, including a forest guard, were killed in violence at the disputed Assam-Meghalaya border in the early hours of Tuesday after a truck allegedly laden with illegally felled timber was intercepted by forest guards from Assam.
This comes months after Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Meghalaya counterpart, Conrad Sangma, signed an agreement in March to resolve the fivedecade-old dispute in six of the 12 contested areas along the 884.9 km-long border between the two states.
