‘I HAVE HAD A VERY CHAOTIC CAREER’

Actor Tim Roth says his body of work has always been ‘varied’, and he likes it that way

- Sugandha Rawal

Tim Roth has, in his five-decade career, cemented his position as a star. But, the BAFTA-winning actor doesn’t take anything for granted. “I have had a very chaotic career... If you even want to call it a career. And I like it that way,” says the actor, who revisited the role of supervillain Emil Blonsky in the recent miniseries She-Hulk: Attorney at Law after 14 years.

Commercial outings aside, the The Incredible Hulk (2008) actor, 61, has also done a fair bit of work in the independent cinema space. “These films don’t have huge finances, but they touch upon very important subjects. My world of work is very varied. Sometimes, people like it, sometimes they don’t. And that’s fine by me. I still enjoy the wildness of the adventure,” he shares.

Roth, known for his work in films such as Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction (1994), among others, says exploring different subjects helps him stay in sync with reality, and is a journey of learning. He adds, “It is important to remember that we’re there to engage with the audience, entertain them and hopefully, not preach to them. Let the audience think for themselves. That’s very rare these days.”
