Lock city Aligarh will become logistics hub: Yogi

AGRA : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said he was optimistic that Aligarh will not be only known for the lock industry, but also for high-quality arms manufactur­ed in the local node of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor.

He also said Aligarh was on way to becoming a logistics and transport hub.

Adityanath was addressing “Prabuddhja­n Sammellan” (meeting of intellectu­als) in Aligarh where he laid the foundation stone and inaugurate­d government schemes worth Rs 96.55 crore.“I am here to appeal to intellectu­als that they have seen the huge developmen­t by double engine regime. Success in local bodies’ election will certainly ensure enhancemen­t of infrastruc­ture developmen­t,” he said.“With the Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University coming up in Aligarh, a course on defence studies will be introduced. There is also a need for a hardware skill developmen­t centre in Aligarh, also known as the lock city,” the chief minister said, adding that he was hopeful of increased employment for the youths.

“Once the Jewar Internatio­nal Airport becomes fully functional, Aligarh will become a hub for logistics and transport. The district was lucky to have personalit­ies like Babu Kalyan Singh and Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh and now developing Aligarh as a “smart city” will realise their dreams,” Yogi Adityanath said.

“Uttar Pradesh is moving on a new path of growth. It has changed to keep pace with changing India in the last eight years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The double engine government has left no room for crime and criminals in Uttar Pradesh,” the chief minister said.

“There were 700 riots in Uttar Pradesh between 2012 and 2017 leading to prolonged spells of curfew but things have changed and the state has got rid of riots. Those involved in riots are working at thelas (vends) to earn a livelihood. ” the chief minister said.
