These districts include Amethi, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kushinagar, Kaushambi, Gonda, Chandauli, Pilibhit, Bulandshahr, Bijnor, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lalitpur, Sultanpur and Sonbhadra districts.

So, the hospitals, referral hospitals and manpower working at these hospitals will now be part of the medical colleges for a period of three years and their attachment can be extended up to 5 years.

The colleges are coming up under the establishment of new medical colleges with existing district/referral hospitals scheme supported by the Centre.

The state government is at present working on “one district, one medical college” programme.

As part of this initiative, several district hospitals are being attached to the new medical colleges.

The aim is to improve clinical facilities in all the districts in the state and also to get more MBBS and speciality doctors for the state. Once transferred to the medical education department, the manpower, including nurses and ward boys, will get their salaries from the medical education department and will also be provided pay protection.
