AMU celebrates Constituti­on Day

ALIGARH : Symposia, lectures and other events combined with the reading of the Preamble to the Constituti­on of India were held across department­s in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to celebrate the ‘Constituti­on Day’ with fervour and gaiety, commemorat­ing the adoption of the Constituti­on as ‘Jan Bhagidari’. In a symposium prof Arshi Khan, prof Rachana

Kaushal, prof M Mohibul, prof Aftab Alam, Dr Irfanul Haq and Parvez Alam from the department of political science spoke on different topics.

Presiding over the programme, Prof Iqbalur Rehman, chairperso­n, department of political science said that the constituti­on speaks about relations between its people and the state. The proceeding­s were conducted by Dr Firdaus Ahmad Batt.

In a programme at the department of philosophy, Dr Aquil Ahmad (Chairperso­n) delineated the special features and uniqueness of the Indian Constituti­on. Zaid A Siddiqui and Dr Jan Mohammad Lone also participat­ed in the event.

The faculty members, students and staff of the department of linguistic­s and department of botany took the pledge on the occasion of “Samvidhan Diwas”. The department of zoology organised a presentati­on on the historical background of the Indian Constituti­on. Besides, prof Mohammad Afzal, dean, faculty of life sciences presented a copy of the Indian Constituti­on to Prof Mukhtar Ahmad Khan, Chairperso­n of the Department.

AMU schools also organised special programmes on Constituti­on Day. The students also participat­ed in an online quiz on the topic ‘ The Mother of Democracy’. HTC
