MADRASA MGMTS SHOULD NOW FOCUS ON IMPARTING QUALITY EDUCATION TO STUDENTS

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Board on Friday clarified that the state government conducted a survey, and not a probe into the working of madrasas across the state.

In a letter to the managers of all the recognised and unrecognised madrasas, principals and teachers, chairman of the board, Iftikhar Ahmed Javed, said the state government had conducted a general survey into the functioning of madrasas.

“No probe has been conducted by the state government. There is no fake or illegal madrasa in the state. Managers of these institutions should understand that after completing survey, the state government makes plans to improve their working, whereas after probe, action is taken against those engaged in illegal activities,” he said.

On the proposal of UP Madrasa Education Council, the survey of all unrecognised madrasas in UP has been completed with the cooperation of various madrasa managements, added Javed. Under the guidance of Prime Minister, the UP government has been able to win the confidence of all madrasa managements with the ‘sabka saath- sabka vishwas’ mantra, he said. “Madrasa managements should now focus on imparting quality education to students,” he said. The previous governments did not carry out survey of unrecognised madrasas as they were neither interested in improving quality of education nor infra facilities of madrasas, added Javed.

The UP government had started the survey of unrecognised madrasas on September 10. Officers collected details of funds, source of income, the organizations running them and their curriculum. According to the report, 7,189 unrecognised madrasas educating over 16 lakh students had been identified during the survey.
