GOVT: GULF INVESTORS INTERESTED IN U.P.

LUCKNOW: Investors from the Gulf region have shown interest in investing in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has said.

Their inclinatio­n towards investing in the state comes in the wake of the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (GIS), proposed to be held between February 10 and 12, 2023. According to a communique issued by the state government on Sunday, interested entreprene­urs from Dubai (UAE) and Abu Dhabi have been extended the invitation to attend the GIS 2023 event.

The six sectors they have shown interest in include -power (renewable energy), hospital and medical education, apparel and textiles, agro and food processing, leather and footwear, and infrastruc­ture, as per Invest U.P., a department of the state government. Notably, Invest U.P. has been appointed as the nodal agency for GIS 2023. This comes just a few days after the U.P. government issued a release mentioning how a few American companies have shown their willingnes­s to invest in the state.

Meanwhile, the Confederat­ion of Indian Industries (CII), on behalf of the U.P. government, is holding talks with entreprene­urs from the Gulf countries regarding investment in the state. It is worth mentioning that the state government has set a target of attracting an investment of Rs 10 lakh crore through the Uttar Pradesh GIS 2023 event.
