Artificial Intelligence to help provide better security at Mahakumbh-2025
PRAYAGRAJ : Besides drones and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, artificial intelligence (AI) will also be used to ensure foolproof security at Mahakumbh-2025 to be held on Sangam banks in Prayagraj.
Prayagraj police have sent a proposal of Rs 400 crore budget for equipment and other arrangements for the mega religious fair, say officials in the know about the move. The district police will leave no stone unturned in ensuring tight security of pilgrims along with VVIPs, VIPs and foreign tourists expected to arrive in large numbers to Mahakumbh-2025, they add.
Police officials are laying stress on foolproof security arrangements for the event. They had also given a presentation to chief minister Yogi Adityanath
during his recent visit to Prayagraj. SSP, Prayagraj, Shailesh Kumar Pandey said Integrated Command and Control Centre ( ICCC) will be upgraded and hi-tech and better-quality CCTV cameras will be installed while their numbers will also be increased.
“The high-quality cameras will enable security personnel to identify and trace suspects. Moreover, artificial intelligence technology will be used to keep a strict eye at every corner of Mahakumbh mela, he added.
“Policemen on duty during Mahakumbh will also be strictly monitored. Every cop will be given a radio frequency identification or RFID card through which control room will know their exact location and if they are on their duty points at any given time,” he said. Special arrangements will also be made for smooth traffic, he added.
Improvements will be carried out for accommodation of policemen and police stations ahead of Mahakumbh-2025. Barracks were constructed in Jhunsi area during Kumbh-2019 and now residential facilities will also be provided to cops at Naini and other police stations.
Police stations on route to Sangam area, including Shivkuti, Georgetown and Jhunsi, will be given special attention. Prayagraj police have also asked for special boats and safety equipment. Police officials said hi-tech equipment and drones will be purchased to avert any untoward situation.
