FAKE CURRENCY NOTES RECOVERED NEAR INDO-NEPAL BORDER

BAHRAICH: A joint team of Murtiha police and anti- terror squad (ATS) unit of Bahraich recovered fake currency notes worth several lakhs of rupees near the Indo-Nepal border, said the police.

The team also recovered different denominati­ons of Indian currency notes worth Rs 59,630, one country made pistol of 315 bore, 4 live cartridges, 4 mobile phones and 3 ID cards of different media houses.

ASP Ashok Kumar said acting on a tip-off SHO Murtiha, Shashi Kumar Pandey and ATS sub-inspector Ravi Prakash launched a vehicle checking drive at bridge No 26 near Lalbojha on Monday night and stopped two persons passing over the bridge on a motorcycle.

The team recovered fake Indian currency notes worth Rs. 3.5 lakh and Nepali currency notes worth Rs 4.40 lakh.

The arrested men were identified as Preetam Singh, 39, alias Sonu, son of Arun Singh alias Roda Singh a resident of Lakhimpur and Awadhesh Tiwari, 40, son of Rajendra Tiwari a resident of Gonda.
