Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) sitting MP from Churu Rahul Kaswan expressed his discontent on Monday after his name was dropped from the list of candidates selected for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“What was my fault? Was I not honest? Was I not hard working? Was I tainted? Did I not make enough effort in getting work done in Churu Lok Sabha. I was foremost in implementing all the schemes of the honourable Prime Minister,” he said in a post on X.

He added, “What else was needed? Whenever I asked this, everyone was speechless. No one could reply to my questions. Maybe people close to me can give some answers.”

Kaswan’s statements are being seen as an indication of his future political moves.

Political analyst say if Kaswan joins Congress, it could play spoilsport for the BJP on some seats, jeopardising its aim of winning all the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

“If Kaswan quits, then the issue of Agniveer is likely to heat up. The Jats are also unhappy with BJP’s decision to give the ticket from Nagaur to Jyoti Mirdha. In case, Rashtriya Loktantrik Party leader Hanuman Beniwal ties up with the INDIA bloc, that will impact Jat votes in the Shekhawati and Marwar regions which could spoil caste equations for the BJP on seats like Jodhpur, Nagaur, Barmer and even Rajsamand where Jats hold influence,” said political commentator Mithilesh Jaimini.

BJP has axed five sitting MPs in the state.

On Kaswan being angry and possibility of leaving the party, BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bhardwaj said, “These are only rumors. Rahul Kaswan is a disciplined party worker. He was given a chance and now another party worker has got a chance. Why should anyone be upset? Kaswan has not made any remark in his post that would suggest that he will rebel against the party.”

In the meantime, Congress Bikaner district chief posted on X that if Kaswan fights from Churu, he will win 100%.

Former MP from Jodhpur Jaswant Bishnoi too expressed dissatisfaction at the ticket distribution in a couple of posts on social media.
