On living a double life while in college

“When I was studying in college and attending fashion weeks, I felt I was leading a double life like Hannah Montana. I was very lowkey in college and a diva at fashion weeks. I always wanted to be a rock star, but I can’t sing. I can still perform though. So, that’s okay!”

On her first big splurge “When Instagram was introduced in India, I had a Nokia phone that couldn’t download Instagram. That’s when I asked my dad for my first iphone. To get a ₹40,000 phone at that time was something else. I’m so grateful because having this tool allowed me to create and post. That time, he was all, ‘first improve your grades.’ I wouldn’t ask for a lot, even though I was shopping a lot, but it was all budget shopping at Hill Road etc.”

On social media judgement “Everyone is going to grow up and at some point, the bubble will break. As long as they are enjoying it, do it. If something doesn’t feel right, try to figure out what is wrong. I never stop or judge anyone because I don’t know why they are doing it. Maybe it is a sort of a release?

Nothing is forever.

Today, you’ll do something and tomorrow you’ll be doing something else. But through that process you find something that is more authentic. I have found my authentic self. Now I know who I am and what I am becoming. As long as you are not hurting yourself or others, it’s fine. If you’re doing it to show something to someone, bring someone down, or have that ego trip, then all the best to you, man. Enjoy your ego trip.”
