KHADI BE­ING SOLD AT RAIL­WAY STA­TIONS UN­TIL END OF JAN­UARY

AIROLI: The Yusuf Me­her Ali Cen­ter (YMAC) is con­duct­ing a two- month- long ex­hi­bi­tion­cum- sale of khadi, hand­loom and gra­mudyog prod­ucts across rail­way sta­tions in Navi Mum­bai.

The ex­hi­bi­tion, which is open to the pub­lic from 9.30am to 10pm, has al­ready been held at Vashi and CBD Be­la­pur rail­way sta­tions, and will be held at Airoli rail­way sta­tion from Jan­uary 13 to 19.

The ex­hi­bi­tion-cum-sale will be held at Nerul rail­way sta­tion from Jan­uary 21 to 25, fol­lowed by San­pada rail­way sta­tion from Jan­uary 25 to Fe­bru­ary 2, and Kharghar rail­way sta­tion from Fe­bru­ary 4 to 9.

YMAC or­gan­ises the ex­hi­bi­tion of khadi, hand­loom and gra­mudyog prod­ucts in ur­ban and semi- ur­ban ar­eas across the coun­try ev­ery year. This time the ex­hi­bi­tion is pro­mot­ing Ra­jasthani hand­i­crafts.

The main aim of YAMC is to pro­mote ru­ral works in ur­ban ar­eas. The spe­cial as­pect of this ex­hi­bi­tion- cum- sale is that it of­fers 15-20% dis­count on ev­ery item from their nor­mal rates.

The prod­ucts on dis­play in­clude khadi tow­els, khadi bed sheets, khadi shirts and kur­tas, car­pets made of khadi, soaps made from neem leaves, and black metal stat­ues of Shivaji, Dr Babasa­heb Ambed­kar and Gautam Bud­dha.

Speak­ing on the ex­hi­bi­tion at the rail­way sta­tion, gen­eral man­ager of YMAC Shrikant Suchde said, “There is al­ways a huge crowd at the rail­way sta­tion and we are get­ting a good re­sponse from them.. e are in Navi Mum­bai till Fe­bru­ary 9, af­ter which we will go to Mantralaya.”
