KHADI BEING SOLD AT RAILWAY STATIONS UNTIL END OF JANUARY
AIROLI: The Yusuf Meher Ali Center (YMAC) is conducting a two- month- long exhibitioncum- sale of khadi, handloom and gramudyog products across railway stations in Navi Mumbai.
The exhibition, which is open to the public from 9.30am to 10pm, has already been held at Vashi and CBD Belapur railway stations, and will be held at Airoli railway station from January 13 to 19.
The exhibition-cum-sale will be held at Nerul railway station from January 21 to 25, followed by Sanpada railway station from January 25 to February 2, and Kharghar railway station from February 4 to 9.
YMAC organises the exhibition of khadi, handloom and gramudyog products in urban and semi- urban areas across the country every year. This time the exhibition is promoting Rajasthani handicrafts.
The main aim of YAMC is to promote rural works in urban areas. The special aspect of this exhibition- cum- sale is that it offers 15-20% discount on every item from their normal rates.
The products on display include khadi towels, khadi bed sheets, khadi shirts and kurtas, carpets made of khadi, soaps made from neem leaves, and black metal statues of Shivaji, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Gautam Buddha.
Speaking on the exhibition at the railway station, general manager of YMAC Shrikant Suchde said, “There is always a huge crowd at the railway station and we are getting a good response from them.. e are in Navi Mumbai till February 9, after which we will go to Mantralaya.”
