MARCH 2004: Announced his entry into politics MAY 2004: Elected to Lok Sabha from Amethi, a seat once held by his father Rajiv Gandhi and later by his mother Sonia Gandhi SEPT 2007: Appointed Cong general secretary and given charge of Youth Congress and National Students Union of India. Inducted into the Congress Working Committee MAY 2009: Once again elected to Lok Sabha from Amethi AUG 2011: Appointed as a member of a panel, which oversaw the party’s functioning in the absence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi during her visit abroad for surgery NOV 2012: Appointed head of the party's six-member election coordination committee for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
