An active, safe and a culturally diverse society
KHARGHAR: Raghunath Vihar Army Welfare Society in Kharghar is one of the rare societies which don’t entertain estate agents to rent/lease flats. The work is taken care of by the society managing committee led by Commander Yogendra Singh, B Krishnamurthi the secretary and Col CK Radhakrishnan the joint secretary.
“This avoids security threats as scrutiny of the tenant is carried out by the society before renting/leasing out flats,” said Krishnamurthi.
Constructed in 2002, the society has over 500 flats in 14 wings of 6 and 7 storied buildings. Krishnamurthi, who stays with his wife Madhu and daughter Ananya, said: “As luck would have it, we found this place in 2002. It was love at first sight and we paid the booking amount in the very next week.”
“Raghunath Vihar is in reality a little India. There is a fair amount of discipline, social values, respect and civic sense in the DNA of the residents, be it a tenant or owner,” Krishnamurthi said.
The society has modern amenities including a club house with a gymnasium, a basket ball court, swimming pool, and a huge garden with a jogging track.
All festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri and Christmas are organised by the subcommittees formed voluntarily by residents with administrative support from the society.
Syed Shakeb, a civil engineer, who has been staying in the society since 2003 with his wife Zeba Ahsan, son Kavish and daughter Yagana, agrees. “Open spaces, broad roads, green surroundings and a school inside the campus attracted me to the society,” Shakeb said.
