City students become national Table Tennis champions
VASHI: Two students Fr Agnel Multipurpose School in Vashi have topped at the National Interstate Table Tennis Championship 2013.
The championship was held from January 2 to 9 at Tyagraj Stadium in New Delhi. Abhirami Madhusudan, a member of the Maharashtra team, won gold medal in the under-14 girls event, defeating the New Delhi team by 3-2. Ajay Singh Patil was the runner-up in the under-14 boys event.
Said Suhas Chavan, head coach of Fr Agnel school, “Our players practiced hard for it through fitness training and conditioning.” Said Chavan, “They have played extremely well this year. They also helped Fr Agnel bag the interschool state table tennis championship in the under-14 boys and under-14 girls championship at Alibagh.”
Said an elated Abhirami, a student of Class 6, who resides in Sanpada, “I have been playing this sport since three years. This is the first time I have won a prize while representing the school, and competed with other states.”
