Vedika organised the music programmes as part of Makara Sankranti celebrations.

The programme began with a poem from “Dasaradhi satakam” by Kavita.

This was followed by rendering of “Sri Rama Nava Ratna Kirtanas”.

The kirtans composed by Sangeeta Kalanidhi Dr Nedunoori Krishnamurthy were rendered by the members of Telugu Kala Vedika.

The highlight of the day’s programme was the solo concert by carnatic musician R.V.Lakshmi.

She rendered quite a few compositions of Bhadrachala Ramadasu like “Ramabhadra ra..ra..., sri rama nee namame ruchira”. Lakshmi was supported by Mukund (violin) and Dakshina Murthy ( mrudamgam). Bharatnatyam by Challa Soujanya attracted the attention of audience as well .

Padma’s narration and anecdotes on each kirtana was an added attraction to the programme . The organisers of Telugu Kala Vedika felicitated RV Lakshmi on the occasion by presenting her a memento .

Padma proposed a vote of thanks.

The popular music programme, known as Dasaradhi Karunapayonidhi was conducted for the fifth consecutive year in the city.

All the compositions to be recited in this programme were written in Telugu by famous 17th century saint known as Bhadrachala Ramadasu and are in praise of Lord Rama. They are very easy to understand, and are basically meant for the common people.

Sangeeta Kala Nidhi Nedunoori Krishnamurthy had composed tunes for nine of the most popular kirtanas known as Sri Rama Navaratna Kirtanalu. The programme also witnessed Bharatanatyam dance by Challa Soujanya based on Sri Bhadrachala Ramadasu Kirtanalu.
