Schools to have trans­port pan­els

Schools in the city will have to form trans­port com­mit­tees with im­me­di­ate ef­fect to en­force the bus safety pol­icy, the RTO told school prin­ci­pals at a meet­ing on Thurs­day. This comes af­ter a four-year- old nurs­ery stu­dent from a school in Juhu was mo­lested last week by a bus cleaner.

The meet­ing, or­gan­ised at the And­heri RTO, was a work­shop for prin­ci­pals of schools from Ban­dra to Dahisar to un­der­stand the pol­icy.

The trans­port panel will have to en­force and mon­i­tor the pol­icy, which man­dates fire ex­tin­guish­ers, emer­gency ex­its and women at­ten­dants in buses. The panel will have rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the school, par­ents, RTO and the ed­u­ca­tion de­part­ment.
