MUMBAI COPS DO U-TURN ON MORAL POLICING PLANS

After receiving flak for a circular asking policemen to take action against couples found at isolated spots, the police issued another circular on Thursday. The new note said they should increase patrolling to ensure that couples aren’t “targeted by antisocial elements”. The first circular was criticised for promoting more policing. The Powai police, meanwhile, booked and fined four couples for ‘indecent behaviour’ in a public place.
