‘CITY READY TO COUNTER TERROR THREAT’
Stating that Navi Mumbai is a natural terror target due to its growing economy and stature, police chief Ashok Kumar Sharma (in pic) has assured that the police are geared up to face the threat. One of the two suspected Hizbul Mujahideen operatives arrested recently was staying in Navi Mumbai. “All the vital installations are well-secured, as are the iconic buildings, and our coastal security is also in place. Our intelligence sources are active,” the police chief said. “There are 275 CCTV cameras installed at 66 locations in the city. This is the best network in the country, put in place at a cost of Rs10 crore by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. 90% of the work is complete, and it will be inaugurated within a month.”
