NAVI MUMBAI MAHILA MAHOTSAV KICKS OFF
The five- day Navi Mumbai Mahila Mahotsav kicked off at CBD on Thursday. The Mahotsav is being held by Shri Goverdhani Sarvajanik Seva Sanstha (SGSSS).
The mahotsav is being held at Sunil Gavaskar ground in Sector 1 of CBD Belapur.
While the women’s fest started on Thursday with cultural programmes and competitions for women, it will be formally inaugurated on Friday by Cidco chairman Pramod Hindurao. Those expected for the inaugural programme include Navi Mumbai police commissioner Ashok Sharma, Marathi daily ‘Sakal’ editor Padmabhushan Deshpande and ‘Lokmat’ editor Vinayak Patrudkar among other dignitaries
SGSSS chairperson former MLC Manda Mhatre said, “Several events including women’s sports, lavani dance, haldi kum kum festival, mehandi competition, cooking contest and children’s drawing competition on the theme of female foeticide have been planned.”
She added, “There will also be orchestra of fun filled Marathi and Hindi songs, health check up camp by Lions club and Empathy Foundation during the Mahila Mahotsav.”
Eminent citizens who have made significant contributions in their field will be felicitated during the fest.
Marathi daily ‘Punyanagari’ editor Sanjay Malme will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony on January 28 when prizes will be given to the winners of various competitions.
