THE ISSUE

New Panvel is a fast developing area with a population increasing by the day. The node, being developed by Cidco has been suffering from various problems for a long time now, because of the pathetic condition of roads. The problem is not restricted to sector 8 - roads in several areas of the node are in a sorry state and have been so for years. Cidco has at times done some patch work but that has had little effect. The situation worsens in the monsoon, when the roads become slushy and mosquitoes breed in stagnant pools of water.

This is an open invitation to epidemics and disease. Residents have been complaining to the authorities to little avail. Cidco, which earns hundreds of crores by selling plots in the node, is taking its own sweet time to set things right.
