VASHI: In its initiative to make Navi Mumbai a green city, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will be kicking off its 7th annual plant and flower show on Sunday. A 3- day event, the show will be held from 27 to 29 January, at the open ground beside Inorbit mall near Vashi railway station.

Much to the delight of environment lovers and horticulturists, the exhibition invites those managing nurseries, and florists to display their work. The show will exhibit a variety of flowers, plants and vegetables throughout the three day. Visitors can enjoy everything from potted plants and ornamental flowers to Bonsai trees and exotic fruits and vegetables. Botany lovers have a chance to learn a thing or two about the uses and characteristics of medicinal herbs that will be on display.

The idea of the exhibition is to encourage the residents of the city into loving nature and planting more trees. There will be competitions to judge the flower arrangements and making gardens in limited spaces. There will even be a contest to judge the best gardens in different categories from housing societies, terrace gardens and educational institutes to public parks and corporate/industrial parks.

The aim of organising an exhibition like this is to spread awareness about the importance of protecting the environment.
