Meeting to resolve FSI issue in city soon: Prithviraj Chavan
CBD BELAPUR: Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Wednesday assured MLA Sandeep Naik in the state assembly that a comprehensive meeting would soon be called to discuss the redevelopment of dilapidated Cidco buildings in Navi Mumbai.
After the issue of the critical condition of the dilapidated City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) buildings in the city was raised by Naik raised during discussion on budgetary demands of the urban development department, he told the house that thousands of residents were forced to live in those dangerous structures.
Naik then demanded that 2.5 floor space index be granted to the city immediately to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
“In the past three years, there have been frequent reports of
slabs falling in Cideo constructed buildings. Several women and children have been hurt in these accidents,” said Naik. “Fortunately, there has have not been any deaths because of these incidents.”
Replying to Naik’s demand, Chavan said, “The issues raised by MLA Sandeep Naik are serious There are several pending issues related to Cideo among which is the issue of old houses that were constructed by Cideo.”
Chavan added, “The is we is being discussed between the urban development secretary and Cideo's new vice chairman and managing director.”
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has already sent a proposal to the State government for approval of 2.5 FSI for Navi Mumbai.
