EIGHT-YEAR- OLD KILLED AFTER SLAB COLLAPSES
NERUL: An eight-year-old boy was crushed to death when a slab, which was a part of the boundary wall of a house in Seawoods, collapsed on Monday.
Sachin Prajapati was playing there in the evening when the rectangular, cement slab on the wall opposite Tandel auditorium at a village in the area fell on him.
According to Suresh Vedak, senior police inspector NRI police station, Prajapati had accidentally touched the slab, after which it collapsed. Vedak said a case of accidental death had been registered in the case.
Villagers in the area alleged that the slab had been brought there to cover a drain that was being constructed by contractor SS Bhoir. As the slab was not required immediately, it had been put on the wall.
The villagers are now demanding strict action against the contractor.
