Autism awareness gets a boost with workshops

VASHI: Schools, hospitals and rotary clubs have joined hands to create awareness about autism.

The Rotaract club of New Bombay is organising a work- shop themed ‘Aashayein- World Autism Awareness Day’ on April 13. The session will be conducted by Sunshine School and autism support group at the Rotary club centre in Vashi. “The workshop is intended for teachers. They will be taught to recognise the early signs and symptoms of autism,” said Poromita Majumder, principal of Sunshine School.

MGM Hospital is also organising an awareness walkathon on April 14. The walk will begin from the hospital premises and will culminate at Shivaji Chowk.
