GUTKHA WORTH R7 LAKH SEIZED
NERUL: Barely a month after gutkha worth Rs10 lakh was seized from Kalamboli, the Navi Mumbai crime branch on Friday again seized gutkha worth Rs7 lakh from Nerul. Two people have also been arrested in the case.
The arrests were made following a tip- off that the consignment which was to be supplied in Mumbai, had been stored in a residential area in Seawoods. Shrikant Pathak, deputy commissioner of police (crime) said, “We raided the house late at night and recovered a large cache of the contraband packed in a number of bags.”
Bhavesh Gupta, 25, and his accomplice Dinesh Chowdhury, 30, are the two who have been arrested. Pathak said interrogation revealed that the Gutka had been supplied by one Raju Kohli of Rasayni, who had asked the arrested to take it to Mumbai. The police are on the lookout for Kohli. “We are also investigating the source of the contraband,” said Pathak.
