PANEL SAYS COP ASSAULT INCIDENT WAS EXAGGERATED

MUMBAI: The panel probing the assault of police sub-inspector Sachin Suryavanshi in the Vidhan Bhavan premises has concluded that the assault was blown out of proportion and had not been as violent as projected by the police.

The report, finalised by the state legislature panel on Tuesday, is likely to be tabled on Wednesday or Thursday.

A source said that panel was of the opinion that the police officer was not beaten up, but manhandled.

Moreover, since the officer could not name anyone involved in the alleged assault other than MLAs Ram Kadam and Kshitij Thakur, the other three suspended MLAs may not have played an active role in the incident, the source added.
