2 new police stations for industrial belt

MIDC: Navi Mumbai, now, has two more police stations which will exclusivel­y police the huge industrial belt of the city.

Thane guardian minister Ganesh Naik on Saturday inaugurate­d the two police stations— Rabale and Turbhe MIDC police stations. The Rabale-MIDC station will police Shil Phata, some parts of Pawane, Mahape, AdawaliBhu­tawali, Turbhe Store areas. Around 85 police personnel have been appointed for the police station.

The jurisdicti­on of TurbheMIDC police station is over the remaining parts of Mahape, Pawane, Turbhe stores, Bonsari Gaon and Uran phata. Around 106 police personnel including three police inspectors, six sub inspectors, four API have been deployed at the police station.

In his inaugural speech, Naik said “The two police stations have been set up in response to industries and local residents’ demand for a separate police station in the areas in wake of growing crime here.”

“With the pace at which Navi Mumbai is developing including the increase in commercial activity, the existing 18 police stations of the city have been doing their best to cope with the burden,” said Navi Mumbai police commission­er A K Sharma.

“There are 1800 industries in Rabale MIDC area and 2600 industries in Turbhe MIDC area. The starting of the two new MIDC police stations will help reduce the burden on the Rabale and Turbhe police stations and also ensure effecting policing of the region,” he added.
