One more held for train robbery

CBD BELAPUR: The Vashi railway police on Thursday arrested a 20-year-old man, Sachin Khede, in connection with the train robbery in which one minor lost his life after being hit by another train, while trying to flee.

The incident took place on Tuesday at 5.30am, between Mankhurd and Vashi railway stations on a Panvel- bound train.

While on Tuesday, the police had arrested one of the accused, on Wednesday, eight more minors who were involved in the robbery were arrested. All the minors were sent to a remand home. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has gone up to 10.

The boys, all residents of Mankhurd, had allegedly robbed a few commuters in the train after boarding it at Mankhurd. As they tried to flee, one of the boys was hit by another train coming from the opposite direction.

The CCTV footage at Mankhurd railway station helped the Vashi railway police arrested the accused.
