Corporator­s donate one month’s salary

VASHI: Corporator­s of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporatio­n on Wednesday took heed of the drought situation in the state and decided to donate a month’s payment towards relief work in the state.

The decision was announced by Nationalis­t Congress Part spokespers­on in NMMC Vinit Palkar, opposition leader in the house Dilip Ghodekar and Congress spokespers­on Hemangi Sonawane during the general body meeting.

The funds will be presented to state chief minister Prithviraj Chavan.

NCP corporator Suresh Kulkarni announced Rs51,000 for the drought relief work .

Several districts in the Marathwada region of the state have been facing severe drought for four years in a row. Various municipal corporatio­n, MPs and MLAs have extended financial support to help those affected by drought.
