Corporators donate one month’s salary
VASHI: Corporators of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation on Wednesday took heed of the drought situation in the state and decided to donate a month’s payment towards relief work in the state.
The decision was announced by Nationalist Congress Part spokesperson in NMMC Vinit Palkar, opposition leader in the house Dilip Ghodekar and Congress spokesperson Hemangi Sonawane during the general body meeting.
The funds will be presented to state chief minister Prithviraj Chavan.
NCP corporator Suresh Kulkarni announced Rs51,000 for the drought relief work .
Several districts in the Marathwada region of the state have been facing severe drought for four years in a row. Various municipal corporation, MPs and MLAs have extended financial support to help those affected by drought.
