Adarsh panel submits final report
MUMBAI: The two-member judicial commission probing the Adarsh housing society scam submitted its final report to the state government on Thursday.
The 700-page report, which will shed light on 11 remaining terms of references mandated in the inquiry, is expected to conclusively point to violations by the government, fix responsibility and recommend action against the guilty.
Sources claim that bureaucrats from the urban development department, BMC and lower level defence officials besides former Congress legislator late Kanhaiyalal Gidwani will be in the dock for their roles in clearing the 31-storey building.
The report, which is yet to be made public, will also comment on the roles of the three former chief ministers — Vilasrao Deshmukh, Sushilkumar Shinde and Ashok Chavan — as they had granted clearances to the illegal tower.
Chavan was forced to resign as the chief minister after it was revealed that his relatives have flats in the 31-storey building.
The commission, comprising justice (retired) JA Patil and P Subrahmanyam, was formed in January 2011.
