CBD BELAPUR: The general body of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation ( NMMC) has approved a budget of Rs3 crore, to set up a CT scan centre at the civic hospital in Vashi.

The centre will be built under a public- private partnership.

The facility, which will be available for 24 hours, will be boon for a number of patients who are now forced to pay a large amount to get CT scans at privately- owned centres in the city.

Welcoming the decision, corporator MK Madhvi said, “The centre will cater to the needs of the underprivileged.”

Shankar More, chairman of the civic health committee said, “A number of road accident victims are rushed to the civic hospital at Vashi. In cases that require urgent medical attention, the absence of a CT scan facility delays treatment.”

More added that the CT scan facility would ensure that no more lives were lost because of this delay in treatment.
