Water bottles to be sent to drought areas
NAVI MUMBAI In the wake of the drought in the Marathwada region of the state, the Navi Mumbai branch of Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) has planned to provide assistance those living in the drought-hit areas.
MNVS will also involve citizens in their mission, and plans to collect empty water bottles from them for the cause.
“Our workers will be urge people to donate clean water bottles. Over the next 10 to 12 dayswe will be visit homes, societies, restaurants and hotels and collect these bottles,” said Sandeep Galugade, president of Navi Mumbai branch of MNVS.
The body then plans to clean the bottles and fill them with drinking water. “Once the bottles are filled, we will book a train bogie, and we will take these boxes with drinking water to Lasur Village near Aurangabad,” said Galugade.

workers found out that toilet water from trains passing by was used by villagers. “When we found out that when trains stopped at Lasur station, which is near Aurangabad, many villagers from neighbouring would collect toilet water from the train as drinking water, we decided to take a step to help them,” said Gajanan Kale, general secretary, MNVS.
“Our workers have already started the process. We aim to collect least 50,000- 60,000 water bottles over the span of 10 days. By mid-May we will take the bottles there since villagers will need drinking water the most at this time,” added Kale.
The party has distributed pamphlets to spread the word and will also launch the campaign on social-networking websites.
