Ambedkar memorial in Airoli by year- end

AIROLI: Navi Mumbai will have the world- class Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar memorial by the end of this year, Airoli MLA Sandeep Naik has announced.

Naik made the announcement during a cultural function held by the Bhimshakti Yuva Mitra Mandal to mark the 122 birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.

“During my tenure as the chairman of the NMMC stand- ing committee, Thane guardian minister Ganesh Naik had taken steps to ensure the construc- tion of a state of the art Ambedkar memorial in Airoli after a request by corporator Sudhakar Sonawane,” said Naik.

“The project will not only have the statue of Dr Ambedkar, but also a community hall, museum, art gallery and study centre. Short films on Dr Ambedkar will also be shown at the memorial. The project has been progressing well and should be ready by the end of the year,” he added.
