DEVOTEES IN KHARGHAR CELEBRATE MAHAVIR JAYANTI
KHARGHAR: Sakal Jain Samaj of Kharghar celebrated Mahavir Jayanti on Tuesday with a rath yatra, dharam sabha and a blood donation camp.
Over 1,000 devotees from different Jain sects participated in the rath yatra, which started from and ended at Shree 1008 Chandra Prabhu Mandirji in sector 21, marked the 2,612th Mahavir Jayanti.
“Usually, the celebrations are confined to the sects of mandirjis, derasars and sanghs. People from different sects of Jainism celebrate the occasion separately. However, this year, people felt it necessary to celebrate jointly in one group,” said SV Jain, one of the organisers.
The dharm sabha was attended by Prasaht Thakur, Panvel MLA and Ashok Gawade, deputy mayor of Navi Mumbai.
“A disciple of Acharya Mahashraman Sh Saman Sidha Pragyaji was also present at the sabha,” said Jain.
A few children and women presented a skit which depicted the teachings of Lord Mahavir.
