VASHI: The rotaract club of Navi Mumbai Hillside, Kharghar, has organised a one-day music festival on April 28, titled Hillside Rock Festival.

The event will be held at the amphitheatre inside Cidco’s Urban Haat at Belapur. The club had organised elimination rounds for the festival on April 13 at the Rotary Service Centre, Belapur. “Arohnd 10 local bands participated in the elimination round,” said Tushar Panchal, event head and rotaract member. The bands were judged by rock band Coshish and five were selected to enter the finals.

Catastrophic Disintegration, Punk on Toast, Blame the Herb, Tattva and The Vicious Circle will perform this Sunday. “We have roped in a couple of wellknown rock bands and members to judge the finals. There are also a couple of surprise elements lined up,” Panchal added.

The club plans to use the money raised from the event towards a social cause. “We have decided to donate a part of the amount to SHIKSHA, an organisation that aims to empower the youth by educating children,” said Omkar Jagdale, president of the club.

The club is expecting over 500 music lovers to turn up at the event. “It’s not often that rock music shows are held in Navi Mumbai, which is why we thought we should organise such a show,” said Panchal.
