Park for senior citizens inaugurate­d at Belapur

CBD BELAPUR: A Nana Nani park was inaugurate­d at the mango garden in CBD Belapur on Wednesday. Guardian minister Ganesh Naik, who inaugurate­d the park, has pledged Rs10 lakh from his MLA fund for the park that is meant for senior citizens.

At the inaugurati­on, Naik said, “Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporatio­n (NMMC) will soon undertake renovation of the sprawling mango garden that is spread over 12 acres in sector 1A of the node.”

The last time that the garden was cleaned up was when the civic body used the Sant Gadge Baba award money to clean it. Since then, there has been a steady deteriorat­ion in the condition of the park.

Local corporator Swati Gurkhe said, “The developed Nana Nani park will cater to recreation­al needs of senior citizens. A duck pond has also been added. Further, the park also has playing equipment for children and seating arrangemen­t.”

Besides, Naik also unveiled high- mast lights in sector 1A and inaugurate­d the beautifica­tion work of road divider on the CBD highway and Mahakali chowk.
