City NGO sets up medical camp at Uttarakhand
NAVI MUMBAI: Kharghar- based not-for-profit organisation Prime Educational Health Learning ( PEHL) conducted a medical relief camp in Uttarakhand from September 20 to September 26. The organisation also conducted such medical relief camps across Uttarakhand in July and August for rehabilitation of the flood victims. The camp was targeted specifically at the state’s worstaffected areas as observed in the previous camps.
The medical relief team included Dr Amit Thadani and Dr Anjana Thadani, directors of PEHL, Dr Sheetal Sankhe, family physician and consultant in industrial medicine, Dr Amit Shobhavat, physician and Rashmi Nandgaonkar, senior nurse.
“We noted during our previous medical camps in villages, there was poverty combined with a general lack of awareness regarding preventable medical conditions. We carried antibiotics, painkillers, paracetamol, antimalarials, antifungals, antacids, ointments, syrups and other required medications based on our previous experiences with regard to the local requirements, and gave them to those in need for free,” said Dr Amit Thadani. PEHL also provided relief material, including clothes and bed sheets for the affected locals.
PEHL also organised a separate surgical camp for people suffering from cataracts, with help from hospitals in Haridwar.
