3 killed, 2 in­jured af­ter car crashes into trailer on e-way

KHAN­DESH­WAR: Three peo­ple were killed and two in­jured when the SUV they were trav­el­ling in crashed into a trailer at Khan­desh­war on the Mum­baiPune ex­press­way on Wed­nes­day morn­ing. The ac­ci­dent took place around 5.15am near Asud vil­lage.

The vic­tims h ave been iden­ti­fied as Shirish Jad­hav, 21, Shailesh Jad­hav, 22, and Dhanan­jay Jad­hav, 21, all res­i­dents of Kore­gaon in Satara. The driver of the car Ma­hesh More, 26, a res­i­dent of Dom­bivli, and one of the pas­sen­gers Kailash Jad­hav, 21, a res­i­dent of Kopar Khairane es­caped with in­juries.

Satara to Mum­bai in a Xylo SUV, when their ve­hi­cle crashed into a trailer from the rear.

The driver of the trailer fled the spot soon af­ter the ac­ci­dent, while the in­jured were ad­mit­ted to MGM hos­pi­tal in Kalam­boli. They are re­ported to be out of dan­ger. Mean­while, the po­lice are on the look­out for the driver.

Ja­nar­dan Tho­rat, se­nior po­lice in­spec­tor, Khan­desh­war, said, “The three vic­tims were re­turn­ing from their na­tive place af­ter cel­e­brat­ing Di­wali and worked at a com­pany in Navi Mum­bai. The two in­jured men had met them through a friend.”

The po­lice said that prima fa­cie it ap­peared that the driver of the trailer had changed lanes sud­denly, caus­ing the car to crash into it.

Fol­low­ing the post mortem, the bod­ies were handed over to the vic­tims’ fam­i­lies. Al­though the au­topsy re­ports are awaited, the po­lice have ruled out a case of drink driv­ing.

The trailer driver has been booked for neg­li­gent driver caus­ing death.
