PANVEL: Commuters will no longer face a tough time tracking trains at the Panvel railway station since the Central Railway plans to install 20 new indicators at the station, Dr Bhaktikumar Dave, the chairman of the Panvel Pravasi Sangh has said.

At present, the station has four indicators on each of the four platforms from which locals on the Panvel-CST route can depart or terminate.

However, the lack of indicators on these platforms has been inconveniencing scores of commuters. The problems faced by passengers in locating trains at the station had prompted the Panvel Pravasi Sangh to urge the CR to install more indicators on the premises.

Officials of the Railway Consultative Committee of the Sangh, including its secretary, working president Sudhir Kolge, joint secretary Behare, members— Muzaffar Bohra, Arun Apte, Arun Dange and Dr Madhu Apte, along with railway officials and the station manager DK Gupta have identified the spots at the station where the indicators will be installed. These include the suburban platforms, the eastern and western entrances to the station and the foot overbridge connecting Panvel to New Panvel.

Besides this, the Sangh has also demanded that indicators be installed inside the waiting room and that the announcement system be improved at the earliest, said Dave. He said that the railway administration had assured them that it would soon take the necessary steps in this regard.
