Cidco, CR to bear cost of repair work at Vashi, Belapur stations
NAVI MUMBAI: The repair work at the Vashi and CBD Belapur stations which is to begin soon will be undertaken jointly by the City Industrial and Development Corporation (Cidco) and the Central Railway ( CR). The nodal agency has already started preparing a cost estimate for the repair work and a structural audit of the two stations is also being conducted simultaneously.
While the majority of the work will only after cost estimates are approved and tenders are floated, the critical condition of a few pillars and towers at the Belapur railway station has prompted Cidco to already begin the repair work.
The CR is expected to submit its report on the repair work soon and is expected to bear the expenses for the repair work at ticket counters and at the entry and exit points.
“There have been a few meetings with CR officials to discuss the cost of the repair work. Once the structural audit report is submitted and the cost estimates are approved, we will begin the work,” said a Cidco official, on the condition of anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
The Vashi Railway Station Commercial Complex Ltd (VRSCCL) came up in August, 2009, while the Belapur Railway Station Commercial Complex Ltd ( BRSCCL) was built in February, 2010. Commuters at both stations have been complaining about the lack of amenities including water leakages. While at Vashi the problem is the greatest at the ticket counters, at Belapur station there are leakages on the platform.
