Trio enthrals Vashi with Carnatic music
NAVI MUMBAI: Vashi Fine Arts Society organised a carnatic vocal music by Papanasam Ashok Ramani on November 10. Ramani was accompanied on the violin by M Vijay and on the mridangam by Kallidaikurichi Sivakumar.
Ramani, grandson of legendary composer Brahmashri Papanasam Sivan, started lear ning music from his mother Dr Rukmani Ramani. His subsequent gurus were KS Krishnamurthy of Calcutta and Ramachandran of Bombay.
The audience was left spell bound for two-and-a-half hours as the trio performed on stage. While all the songs were a hit, the Thani Avarthanam (a solo performance of the percussion instrument the Mridangam), won the loudest applause.
