Trio enthrals Vashi with Carnatic music

NAVI MUMBAI: Vashi Fine Arts Society organised a carnatic vocal music by Papanasam Ashok Ramani on November 10. Ramani was accompanie­d on the violin by M Vijay and on the mridangam by Kallidaiku­richi Sivakumar.

Ramani, grandson of legendary composer Brahmashri Papanasam Sivan, started lear ning music from his mother Dr Rukmani Ramani. His subsequent gurus were KS Krishnamur­thy of Calcutta and Ramachandr­an of Bombay.

The audience was left spell bound for two-and-a-half hours as the trio performed on stage. While all the songs were a hit, the Thani Avarthanam (a solo performanc­e of the percussion instrument the Mridangam), won the loudest applause.
