GHANSOLI: Although the Navi Mumbai police recently stepped up efforts to reduce the number of chain-snatching incidents in the city and even started conducting nakabandis, there’s no stopping miscreants.

In a brazen act, a mangalsutra worth Rs25,000 was snatched from a lady in Ghansoli, who was walking near the Ghansoli police chowky. Despite the police having put up barricades for nakabandi there, the accused managed to pass by, as there were no police personnel in the afternoon when the incident took place.

Anita Amrale was near Haware chowk in sector 3-4, on her way to pick her child up from school, when two unidentified men arrived on a bike. The pillion rider snatched the chain and the duo fled. Assistant police inspector SB Katare of Kopar Khairane police station is investigating the case.
