FREE SCREEN­ING CAMP ON WORLD DI­A­BETES DAY

NAVI MUM­BAI: City hos­pi­tals ob­served the World Di­a­betes Day on Novem­ber 14 by or­gan­is­ing free screen­ing camps at dif­fer­ent lo­ca­tions.

The DY Patil hos­pi­tal in Nerul held th­ese camps at 10 dif­fer­ent lo­ca­tions in Navi Mum­bai in­clud­ing Nerul, Sea­woods and San­pada.

The re­sults of th­ese check­ups re­vealed that of the 1,042 peo­ple tested, 595 were non-di­a­betic, while 447 peo­ple were de­tected with high lev­els of su­gar. Out of th­ese, 61 were di­ag­nosed with di­a­betes.

“Di­a­betes is a pro­gres­sive dis­or­der and, hence, those de­tected with it must un­dergo treat­ment im­me­di­ately. We told them about the pre­cau­tions and how to avoid or de­lay its com­pli­ca­tions,” said a con­sult­ing di­a­betol­o­gist from the hos­pi­tal.
