Panvel station to get new lift, parking lot
PANVEL: A number of issues related to passenger facilities, such as the installation of a lift, parking facilities and other amenities, were discussed during the quarterly meeting of the Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) of Panvel railway station on Wednesday.
The meeting, held under chairmanship of divisional commercial manager (goods) NL Arora, was attended by CCI P K Singh, CIW Shrivastav and other members of the railway.
Arora told the members that a plot has been reserved for a railway crossing subway.
In a joint inspection, railway administrators and DRUCC members identified places for the installation of a lift, a staircase, railings at the station. A proposal for the amenities has already been sent to the authority concerned for approval, Arora said.
“Scores of passengers travel to and from Panvel station. We have demanded an allocation of funds for maintaining facilities for the passengers at the station,” Arora said, adding that the railway administration has approved the provision of several commuters’ amenities at the station including the putting up of sign boards on both sides of the station, the creation of a new passenger reservation system at the ticket booking office at New Panvel and the issuance of smart cards.
