Pan­vel sta­tion to get new lift, park­ing lot

PAN­VEL: A num­ber of is­sues re­lated to pas­sen­ger fa­cil­i­ties, such as the in­stal­la­tion of a lift, park­ing fa­cil­i­ties and other ameni­ties, were dis­cussed dur­ing the quar­terly meet­ing of the Divi­sional Rail­way Users Con­sul­ta­tive Com­mit­tee (DRUCC) of Pan­vel rail­way sta­tion on Wed­nes­day.

The meet­ing, held un­der chair­man­ship of divi­sional com­mer­cial man­ager (goods) NL Arora, was at­tended by CCI P K Singh, CIW Shri­vas­tav and other mem­bers of the rail­way.

Arora told the mem­bers that a plot has been re­served for a rail­way cross­ing sub­way.

In a joint in­spec­tion, rail­way ad­min­is­tra­tors and DRUCC mem­bers iden­ti­fied places for the in­stal­la­tion of a lift, a stair­case, rail­ings at the sta­tion. A pro­posal for the ameni­ties has al­ready been sent to the au­thor­ity con­cerned for ap­proval, Arora said.

“Scores of pas­sen­gers travel to and from Pan­vel sta­tion. We have de­manded an al­lo­ca­tion of funds for main­tain­ing fa­cil­i­ties for the pas­sen­gers at the sta­tion,” Arora said, adding that the rail­way ad­min­is­tra­tion has ap­proved the pro­vi­sion of sev­eral com­muters’ ameni­ties at the sta­tion in­clud­ing the putting up of sign boards on both sides of the sta­tion, the cre­ation of a new pas­sen­ger reser­va­tion sys­tem at the ticket book­ing of­fice at New Pan­vel and the is­suance of smart cards.
