Terrorist groups may try to disrupt polls, warns PM
NEW DELHI: Describing the recent incidents of communal violence in Muzaffarnagar as “most worrisome”, PM Manmohan Singh told police chiefs on Saturday to tackle communal incidents with utmost firmness and fairness in the future.
Singh also reiterated the need for security agencies probing terror groups to remain “scrupulously bipartisan” so that people don’t lose faith in their professionalism “and the secular nature of our polity”.
Singh said that there was the likelihood of attempts by terror groups to disrupt the forthcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
