MUMBAI: The body of a 27-yearold woman was found at Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) in Borivli (East) on Thursday morning. Police said the unidentified accused slit Sarla Ahire’s throat twice before abandoning the body. The Kasturba Marg police said it is suspected the woman was murdered over a soured relationship.

Police said they were informed about a body being found at Trimurti village in SGNP after a group of kids noticed it at 10.30am. The woman’s hands had been bound behind her back and a dupatta had been tied over her eyes.

“Her handbag was missing, but the jewellery was intact. We circulated her photograph to other police stations; she was later identified and the body was sent for an autopsy. We have also requested forensic experts to find out whether she had been sexually assaulted,” said an official from the Kasturba Marg police.

Police said Ahire, an unmarried woman, was employed at an imitation jewellery-making company. She lived with her mother and sister at Tanaji Nagar in Goregaon’s Teen Dongri area.
