Woman’s body found in­side na­tional park

MUM­BAI: The body of a 27-yearold woman was found at San­jay Gandhi Na­tional Park (SGNP) in Borivli (East) on Thurs­day morn­ing. Po­lice said the uniden­ti­fied ac­cused slit Sarla Ahire’s throat twice be­fore aban­don­ing the body. The Kas­turba Marg po­lice said it is sus­pected the woman was mur­dered over a soured re­la­tion­ship.

Po­lice said they were in­formed about a body be­ing found at Trimurti vil­lage in SGNP af­ter a group of kids no­ticed it at 10.30am. The woman’s hands had been bound be­hind her back and a du­patta had been tied over her eyes.

“Her hand­bag was miss­ing, but the jew­ellery was in­tact. We cir­cu­lated her pho­to­graph to other po­lice sta­tions; she was later iden­ti­fied and the body was sent for an au­topsy. We have also re­quested foren­sic ex­perts to find out whether she had been sex­u­ally as­saulted,” said an of­fi­cial from the Kas­turba Marg po­lice.

Po­lice said Ahire, an un­mar­ried woman, was em­ployed at an imi­ta­tion jew­ellery-mak­ing com­pany. She lived with her mother and sis­ter at Tanaji Na­gar in Gore­gaon’s Teen Don­gri area.



The body was found at San­jay Gandhi Na­tional Park with the throat slit.
